SIBU: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch has continued its people-centric service mission by successfully assisting a low-income family from Jalan Tanjung Kunyit, Bawang Assan, in securing approval for the Program Perumahan Rakyat Sejahtera (PPRS).

Through the coordinated efforts of the relevant agencies, the construction of the family’s new home has been completed and is now ready for occupancy.

Led by branch chairman, Cr Kevin Lau, the team, together with community leaders Penghulu Yong King Sung, Penghulu Wong Ung, Kapitan Ting Siew Kiew and Cr Justin Wong Sing Ing, worked closely with various departments to ensure a smooth application and verification process.

Ting played a key coordinating role, ensuring effective communication and timely progress throughout the approval and construction phases.

Lau expressed his satisfaction at seeing the family finally able to move into a safer and more comfortable home.

He reaffirmed the branch’s commitment to continue serving the grassroots community, advocating for vulnerable groups and securing necessary resources for those in need.

As the family prepares to move into their new home, the Sibu Zhuang & Ngieng Clan Association extended warm support by generously donating furniture, electrical appliances and food baskets.

Association chairman, Ngieng Hock Teck, and permanent honorary chairman, Ngieng Ping Sing personally delivered bed frames, mattresses, tables, chairs and other essential items to the family.

The SUPP Bawang Assan team expressed deep appreciation for the association’s generosity, describing it as an excellent example of how community organisations and political bodies can work together to build a more caring and united society.

Lau stressed that although political parties naturally carry political responsibilities, the branch has always prioritised community welfare and the well-being of vulnerable families.

“Every contribution from community associations strengthens social cohesion and plays an important role in fostering a more compassionate and empathetic Sibu.

“I pledge to continue our close collaboration with community organisations to bring practical assistance to more families in need,” he added.
