SIBU: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Mobile Service Team visited Jalan Sing here on Saturday to better understand the needs of residents in the Kwong Hua area.
According to its chairman, Councillor Kevin Lau Kor Jie, the team received several pieces of feedback during their visit, including concerns over electricity supply, tree branches interfering with power lines, poorly positioned electricity poles, and broken water pipes.
“Visiting rural areas enables the team to better listen to the concerns of the people, especially elderly villagers who rarely travel to the town centre.
“Such visits offer them an opportunity to voice the problems they face,” Lau said in a statement today.
He added that the visits also allow the team to assess the condition of various side roads and identify areas that may have been previously overlooked.
“For instance, during this morning’s visit, we noticed a resident’s external water meter pipe had a crack, causing water to spray out.
“Councillor Wong Sing Ing immediately took a photo and recorded the exact location to report the issue to the relevant authorities for action,” he said.
Lau noted that after communicating with the affected residents, they agreed to allow the councillors to assist in reporting the leaking water meter issue to the authorities.
He also expressed his gratitude to the community leaders and councillors within the Bawang Assan area for their continuous attention to local issues and their collective efforts to build a better Bawang Assan.
