SIBU: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan mobile service team set up its service station at Joy Food Court here on Saturday, offering a variety of convenient public services.
These included applications for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC), Senior Citizens Health Benefit (SCHB), welfare assistance and help in addressing various community-related issues.
The event led by SUPP Bawang Assan Branch chairman, Cr Kevin Lau Kor Jie, together with several community leaders drew encouraging participation, with many residents turning up to seek information and assistance.
Lau explained that the purpose of the mobile service was to make it easier for residents to handle government-related matters while reducing the inconvenience faced by the elderly and those with mobility challenges.
“Many residents face communication or movement difficulties. By bringing these services directly to the community, we ensure that everyone, especially senior citizens, can enjoy the benefits and assistance they deserve,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to his service team for their commitment and cooperation as well as to the owner of Joy Food Court who had generously provided the venue on a regular basis, enabling the team to carry out these services for the benefit of local residents.
Commenting on the latest updates to the KGC system, Lau encouraged senior citizens to seek help from younger family members to register for the Sarawak Pass and download the Sarawak Pay mobile application using their phones.
This, he said, would allow them to conveniently apply online for the Kenyalang Gold Card and future welfare programmes.
He added that such digital methods would greatly enhance the convenience and efficiency of various welfare schemes.
In addition, he reminded the public that the Sarawak government had recently launched the new Sarawak Pass, an integrated digital platform that would serve as a key gateway to multiple public services and digital conveniences within the state.
He urged residents to search for the keyword ‘Sarawak Pass’ online or visit official government websites to learn more about its functions and benefits.
“The SUPP Bawang Assan mobile service team will continue its outreach efforts to stay close to the people, ensuring that more residents are well-informed and able to benefit from the various government assistance programmes available,” Lau added.
