KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kuching Branch will once again set up its evening ‘Service Counter’ tonight (May 15) from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Life Cafe, Jalan Padungan.
This initiative primarily aims to assist tertiary students who have yet to complete their applications for the RM1,200 Special Cost of Living Assistance, while also providing additional support services for senior citizens, persons with disabilities and the general community.
The first session, held on May 8, saw a strong turnout, with many students, parents and local residents seeking consultation and assistance.
Numerous applicants completed their aid applications with the support of on-site volunteers, while senior citizens and persons with disabilities also benefited from welfare consultations and support services provided during the session.
Given the encouraging response and feedback from those unable to attend the first event due to scheduling conflicts, SUPP Kuching Branch has decided to organise this second session to reach more needy individuals.
The upcoming service counter will offer various services, including assistance for students applying for the RM1,200 Special Cost of Living Assistance, applications for the Kenyalang Gold Card for senior citizens, document verification, social welfare consultations and registration for Persons with Disabilities (OKU).
Cr. Nicholas Wung Duk Ying, the Youth chief of SUPP Kuching Branch, will also provide legal consultation on-site.
Wung has advised applicants to prepare the necessary documents in advance to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
These include photocopies of the applicant’s and parents’ identity cards, student ID or university admission letter, and a registered Sarawak ID account.
Civil servants or employed parents should provide their latest payslip, business owners should bring BORANG B income tax documents, and self-employed individuals or those without fixed income must produce an income verification letter from a Kapitan (community chief).
In addition, SUPP Kuching Branch volunteers will be on hand to help applicants prepare and issue supporting letters on the spot for those with incomplete documentation.
The branch hopes that this second evening service counter will further extend the reach of available aid and public resources, particularly among students and those needing timely assistance.
Eligible individuals are encouraged to attend and fully utilise the support provided.
