KUCHING: Community digital literacy is being strengthened through practical artificial intelligence (AI) training as more residents are encouraged to acquire skills needed for the digital economy.
The initiative was highlighted during the ‘AI Digital Training – Creating Value with Your Smartphone’ programme organised by the SUPP Batu Kitang 10th Mile Sub-Branch Youth, which was attended by Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang today (July 26).
Speaking at the event, Lo said that AI should be viewed as a practical tool that enhances productivity and creativity rather than something to be feared, encouraging more community-based programmes that expose the public to emerging technologies.
“Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the way we live and work. It is important that our community, especially our younger generation, embraces these technologies and develops the skills needed to remain competitive in an increasingly digital world,” he said.
He commended the organising committee for taking the initiative to promote digital literacy and lifelong learning within the community.
Lo also expressed his appreciation to the SUPP Batu Kitang 10th Mile Sub-Branch Youth for successfully organising the programme and for their continued efforts in empowering the community through meaningful educational initiatives.
“The enthusiasm shown by the participants is truly encouraging. I hope more similar programmes will be organised in the future so that people from all walks of life can benefit from digital knowledge and seize new opportunities brought about by technological advancement,” he said.
The half-day programme introduced participants to the fundamentals of AI and demonstrated how readily available AI tools can be applied in everyday life, work, content creation and business.
Participants also gained hands-on experience in using AI for writing, image generation, short video production and improving productivity through mobile devices.
The programme reflects the shared commitment to fostering innovation, encouraging continuous learning and preparing the community for the digital economy, while supporting Sarawak’s vision of becoming a smart and digitally empowered state.
