SIBU: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch Youth Wing organised a prawn fishing competition at Wanli Aquarium, Jalan Teng Kung Suk, here on Sunday, attracting strong participation from many young comrades.

Their enthusiasm and energy reflected the unity and strong team spirit within the Youth Wing.

The event was meticulously planned and coordinated by the Youth Chief, Kapitan Chew Hoo Kiong, and organising committee member, Ling Wan Kiong, ensuring a smooth and well-managed competition.

The youth competed in a relaxed and enjoyable setting, not only cultivating patience but also strengthening bonds, engaging in conversations, and taking a short break from their busy routines – further enhancing their team spirit.

SUPP Bawang Assan Chairman, Cr Kevin Lau Kor Jie, who was present, pointed out that besides fostering interactions among youth, such activities also served as important platforms to strengthen party solidarity.

He emphasised that youth represented the future of the party and played a vital role in driving progress within the community and society.

“We hope that despite their busy schedules with work and daily commitments, our youth will continue to make time to participate in party activities. Through these platforms, they can support one another, learn from each other and grow together. This spirit – unity, cooperation and collective progress – is exactly what our party needs,” he said.

Lau further stressed that the SUPP Bawang Assan Branch would  continue to support the Youth Wing in organising more meaningful activities to attract more young people.

“Beyond enjoying the fun of such programmes, we hope our youth will also take on the responsibility of serving the community and work with us to drive the development of Bawang Assan, contributing to the progress of Sarawak,” he said.

Lau, who is also SUPP Central Youth Chief, called on youth to remain united and passionate, working together to build a more vibrant and cohesive team, thereby laying a stronger foundation for the party’s future.
