SIBU: The Youth Wing of the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Branch kicked off its first community outreach activity of 2026 on Thursday with a visit to the Sibu Benevolent Society Care Centre (SBSCC) at Jalan Teng Chin Hua here, reaffirming its commitment to serving the community and caring for the underprivileged.
The visit was led by Youth Wing Chief, Kapitan Chew Hoo Kiong, accompanied by Youth Wing Secretary and Councillor (Cr) Yong Ing Hock, as well as Organising Committee Chairperson, Tang Sieu Hung.
During the visit, the youth wing members gained a deeper understanding of the society’s daily operations and its current needs, while also handing over a donation of daily necessities and food supplies.
SUPP Bawang Assan Branch Chairman, Cr Kevin Lau Kor Jie, was also present to witness the donation handover.
In the course of the engagement, a representative of the SBSCC expressed hope that the organisation would continue to receive greater attention and support from the public, particularly in meeting its ongoing operational expenses and basic material needs.
She also conveyed her sincere appreciation to the SUPP Bawang Assan Branch Youth Wing for their visit and contribution, noting that the gesture not only provided tangible assistance but also brought warmth and encouragement to the residents and staff.
In his remarks, Lau expressed hope that the Youth Wing, under the leadership of Chew, would continue to care for the community and serve society.
“The branch would persist in maintaining close ties with the community through various charitable and outreach activities, working together to bring more positive energy to society,” Lau, who is also SUPP Youth Central Chairman, assured.
