KUCHING: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof tabled the motion of confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the first meeting of the first session of the 15th Parliament today (Dec 19).

In doing so, he urged members of the Dewan Rakyat to support the Unity Government.

He said as the outlook of the world economy next year is expected to go into recession, the Unity Government must have the support of the MPs.

“This will further strengthen the confidence of investors, the business community and the people.

“The result of the support will inject determination for the Unity Government to continue to commit to providing the best service to the people,” he said.

Fadillah, who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chief whip, said the administration of the Unity Government will be based on the principles of good governance, justice and social equality including reformation efforts in certain areas.

“With this, the leadership of the 10th Prime Minister and the Unity Government must be supported for the success of the country and the well-being of the people.

“The Unity Government pledge to continue to stabilise the political climate, drive the economy, unite all Malaysians of different races and raise the dignity of Malaysia in the eyes of the world,” he said.

With this, he said the House needs to take a stand and pledge to give full support to the leadership of Anwar as the Prime Minister to carry out his duties and responsibilities.
