Suspect arrested in Medan Jaya Murder Case

BINTULU: A suspect in the Medan Jaya murder case has been picked up by police.

Bintulu district police chief Supt. Batholomew Umpit said the 57-year-old individual was arrested on Wednesday (June 7) at 10.30 pm in a housing estate here.

Police were granted a remand order by the Magistrate’s Court here and the suspect will be in custody until June 13 under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Batholomew said the motive behind the murder is currently under investigation.

On June 7, at approximately 8.28 pm, the victim was found lying motionless in a pool of blood, suffering from head injuries and displaying multiple bruises on various parts of the body.

Three wooden sticks were discovered near the crime scene. The victim, identified as a local resident, was pronounced dead at the scene.
