SIBU: Police arrested a 53-year-old local man over suspected drug offences during operations at Jalan Ling Kai Cheng here on Thursday.
Sibu acting police chief, Supt Boniface Bajai, said the suspect was detained at about 4 pm by a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the district police headquarters (IPD).
He said police seized 20 red and silver foil packets containing 10 pills each, believed to be Erimin 5, with an estimated gross weight of 63.40 grammes.
A transparent packet containing crystalline substances suspected to be methamphetamine, weighing approximately 5.53 grammes, was also seized.
“The total value of the drugs seized is estimated at RM4,600,” he said in a statement.
Police also seized a Honda Accord belonging to the suspect, estimated to be worth RM26,000.
Urine screening tests found the suspect positive for benzodiazepine.
The suspect was arrested under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and remanded for seven days to assist investigations.
