SIBU: Chung Hua Middle School No. 3’s volleyball club recently underwent a three-day training camp with Sibu Volleyball Association (SVA), focusing not only on skills but also on building the right mindset and discipline.
Coach Stephanie Law shared that the team consists mostly of students aged between 13 and 18, with 13 girls and 3 boys participating, all under the guidance of their coach Bong Shi Yee.
“We are honoured that Chung Hua Middle School No. 3 engaged the Sibu Volleyball Association to conduct the three-day camp.
“Beyond developing their volleyball skills, we placed great emphasis on cultivating athlete discipline and mindset,” she told Sarawak Tribune today.
Law explained that without the willingness to train hard and the desire to win, focusing solely on technique becomes meaningless.
“We are pleased to see the players growing not only in their technical abilities but also in their attitude and commitment.
“SVA will always support schools that are serious about developing young talent the right way with heart, discipline, and dedication,” she said.
She also highlighted SVA willingness to collaborate with schools not only in Sibu and Sarawak but also from other states.
“Our goal is to nurture young talents nationwide by offering structured training, discipline-focused coaching, and opportunities to develop both on and off the court.
“We welcome more schools to reach out to us, whether for short-term camps or long-term development programs,” she said.
The three-day training camp was held from May 29-31.
