KUCHING: An 11-foot crocodile named ‘Bujang Satok’ was captured by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation’s (SFC) Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT) on Monday (July 5).

A spokesman from the corporation said the reptile was caught at the banks of Sarawak River in Satok.

“The crocodile was baited with food and entered a trap which was installed five days ago.

“The SWAT team set the trap after receiving a report of a crocodile sighting around Satok,” the spokesman said in a Facebook post.

SFC chief executive officer Zolkipli Mohamad Aton together with his deputy Abang Arabi Abang Aimran arrived at scene to observe the situation after they were informed of the capture.

After retrieving the reptile from the river, it was immediately taken to Jong’s Crocodile Farm for further action.

The public are urged to report any sighting of crocodiles or other wildlife to the SFC hotline in Kuching (019-8859996), Sibu (019-8883561), Bintulu (019-8332737) and Miri (019-8290994).

The reptile was placed onto the back of a lorry before it was taken to Jong’s Crocodile Farm.
