SIMANGGANG: The Simanggang Swiftlet Farmers Association is urged to play a key role in advancing the industry, particularly in cross-border trade, as processed swiftlet nests have now entered the Chinese market.
Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said the association serves as a unified voice, representing local farmers and ensuring the sustainability of the swiftlet farming business.
“In addition, swiftlet farmers must also maintain high-quality production as this is crucial for sustaining demand, as buyers prioritise quality over price,” he said.
He said during the association’s committee members for the 2023-2025 term swearing-in ceremony held at a local restaurant here recently.
Francis, who is also the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, also took the opportunity to congratulate the newly appointed committee members and encouraged them to organise training programmes to equip the swiftlet farmers with the necessary knowledge and skills to enhance their business prospects.
Among the recommended courses were swiftlet nest grading and processing techniques, which are essential for ensuring industry growth and competitiveness.
“Association members must remember to align with your objectives and guidelines to manage activities efficiently,” he said.
Later, the event also saw the swearing-in ceremony of the association’s advisors and committee members, including chairman Chong Kui Min and deputy chairman Yap King Ping.
