KUCHING: The Swinburne Indoor Open returns bigger and better for its third edition this year, with 12 frisbee teams set to compete from across Malaysia and neighbouring countries.
This year’s edition marks a significant increase from last year’s eight teams, with entries coming from West Malaysia, Sabah, Brunei Darussalam, and Sarawak cities including Sibu, Miri and Bintulu.
Notably, an alumni team based in Singapore will also be joining, possibly bringing Singapore-based players to the competition.
The tournament will be held from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm across two venues – the multi-purpose hall and the student hub, allowing for a larger-scale event.
Last year, renovations limited play mostly to the student hub, but with the multi-purpose hall available again, expansions have been made to accommodate three pools of teams, up from two last year.
Despite the expansion, registration fees remain among the lowest in Malaysia, with early bird prices at RM588 and the normal fee priced at RM688 per team, compared to other tournaments that often charge higher.
The Swinburne Indoor Open will continue its tradition of awarding medals and certificates as prizes, with no cash prizes on offer.
This third edition promises an improved and upgraded experience for all involved, building on the positive reception from previous years and the growing interest from regional teams.
