KUCHING: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne) will launch its new strategy in November, unveiling ‘Quantum Leaps’ that build on its global reputation for innovation, research and graduate employability.

Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pascale Quester, said the roadmap, developed after almost a year of collaboration with staff, students, alumni, partners and the wider community, would mark the next phase in the institution’s journey.

“Our vision of people and technology working together to build a better world drives us to think differently, act with purpose and reimagine what a university should be.

“The Quantum Leaps in our next strategy build on the ambitious moon shots we are already reaching around work-integrated learning, graduate employability, research, industry collaboration and global best practice,” she said during Swinburne’s graduation ceremony at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

Quester encouraged graduates to see their qualifications not just as scrolls but as valuable assets that would serve them throughout their lives.

She described them as a passport enabling access to new worlds, a weapon of knowledge against conflict, a software for solving problems, a scaffold for higher achievement, and an investment for future value.

“The Swinburne qualification you now hold is much more than a piece of paper. It is a next-gen asset.

“Swinburne has worked closely with industry and employers to ensure your degree is relevant and future-proof. It will always help you create value for yourself or your employer,” she added.

Quester also reminded graduates of their continuing role as alumni, noting that they had a unique opportunity to shape the future of the university and those who follow in their footsteps.

“As you may know, Swinburne was the first Australian university to guarantee Work Integrated Learning for every undergraduate student as part of their degree.

“We are proud to share that 100 per cent of our undergraduate and vocational and higher education students now participate in at least one industry-engaged learning experience during their studies,” she said.
