SWP gives thumbs up to CM

KUCHING: Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) has given the thumbs up to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for his announcement of the Sarawakku Sayang Special Aid Package to assist those affected by the Covid-19 crisis. 

SWP acting deputy president David Munan said although SWP and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) were of different political divide, the party recognised what was good for the people of Sarawak. 

“Giving RM250 cash incentive to the B40 group will benefit them very much not only during this disastrous period, but every day in their lives,” he said. 

David proposed that the RM250 incentive be made permanent to them and not just a temporary measure. 

“This group needs help and assistance. Sarawak is rich and we believe the government can afford it. 

“We are all for this incentive to be made permanent to Sarawakians under the B40 group,” he said. 

He said other than the B40, the M40 group, especially those living in towns and cities, was also at a critical stage.

“The M40 group must not be overlooked also. It needs financial help. As such, SWP views that the group should also be included in the special package,” he said.
