SIBU: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) distributed Ramadan aid worth RM129,355 to 582 individuals and tahfiz students here on Saturday.
The presentation ceremony was officiated by TBS’ General Manager, Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie, at the Sarawak Islamic Complex Hall.
The aid is aimed at easing the burden of communities throughout the month of Ramadan and to help them prepare for the upcoming Syawal celebrations.
Meanwhile, TBS in a statement said that as of January 2025, a total of RM8.3 million has been distributed to eligible asnaf (underprivileged) groups through four main programmes.
These programmes are the Strengthening the Tradition of Knowledge Programme, Developing Islamic Institutions Programme, Enhancing the Well-being of the Ummah Programme, and Ummah Skills Development Programme.
In addition to aid distribution, the event also featured the Al Bait Raya Outfit Donation Project, organised by Yayasan Kepimpinan Al Bait (YKAB).
This initiative is a collaborative project between TBS and Koperasi Al-Bait Sarawak Bhd (KoopBait).
The Al Bait Raya Outfit Donation Project was first launched during Ramadan 2023 in Kuching.
It received an overwhelming response from the public across Sarawak, particularly in Kuching, Sibu and Miri.
Due to its positive reception, the project has since been expanded to other divisions throughout Sarawak.
YKAB has distributed over 55,700 sets of clothing to approximately 7,200 recipients across the State.
For the Sibu area this year, 1,000 sets of raya attire were distributed free of charge through a special booth operating throughout the event.
This project is a special programme aimed at sharing the joy of Syawal by providing new clothing to those in need, particularly the asnaf community in Sibu.
Meanwhile, YKAB also welcomes public participation as volunteers under the Al Bait Leadership Foundation Volunteers (SYKAB) to support its programmes.
