Tahfiz student killed in crash after Tarawih prayers

KUALA TERENGGANU: A tahfiz student was killed when he was hit by another motorcycle at Jalan Kampung Pengadang Baru here last night.

The student was riding a motorcycle home after performing the Tarawih prayers.

Kuala Terengganu Police Chief, ACP Azli Mohd Noor, said the police were informed about the crash at 10.45 pm.

He identified the victim as Muhammad Adam Syakir Rahmat, 19, from Marang.

The crash was believed to have occurred when Adam came out from a junction.

According to Azli’s statement today, the other motorcyclist on the main road, Muhammad Hafeeq Izzuan Mohd Izzad Izzuan, 21, was not able to apply the brake in time and crashed into Adam Syakir.

Adam died at the scene and his body was sent to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for post-mortem.

Hafeeq Izzuan, from Kampung Gong Kiat, sustained serious injuries and was also sent to the same hospital for treatment. – BERNAMA
