KUCHING: The Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers (SABATI) today held a tahlil ceremony in remembrance of the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, who passed away on June 23 at the age of 76.
The ceremony, held at Wisma SABATI, was led by Ustazah Natijam Misau from the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).
It began with the recitation of Surah Yaasin, followed by tahlil prayers and ‘doa arwah’.
Among those present were SABATI Deputy President II, Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud; wife of the State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Puan Sri Datuk Fatimah Iskandar; SABATI Honorary Treasurer, Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin; Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organisation (PERKIM) Sarawak Vice-Chairperson II, Datin Noraini Hussin; and Sarawak Women’s Section of the Malaysian Government Servants Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Deputy Chairperson, Datin Sri Haizan Ibrahim.
The event was also attended by family members of the late Puan Sri and other invited guests.
Juma’ani, wife of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, breathed her last at 3:34 am on June 23 at Normah Medical Centre, and was buried later that day at the Semariang Islamic Cemetery.
The late Juma’ani is fondly remembered as a people-centric leader who played a significant role in advancing welfare and community development, particularly through her active involvement in SABATI and the women’s wing of MAKSAK.
