KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng received a courtesy visit from the Taoyuan City Scout Council of Taiwan, aimed at fostering closer ties and exploring opportunities for future Scout exchanges between Kuching and Taiwan.

The visiting delegation was led by council chief delegate Hsu Song-fang, who was optimistic about establishing exchange programmes that would strengthen friendship, mutual understanding, and leadership among young people.

The Taoyuan scouts are actively involved in international exchanges with scouts from the United States, Korea, China, and Japan.

Discussions during the meeting held recently covered areas such as community welfare, sustainability, youth empowerment, multicultural unity, and the role of festive events in fostering community bonds.

Both parties agreed that enhanced scout exchanges could contribute significantly to building stronger people-to-people connections.

The Taiwanese delegation will be in Kuching for a week, participating in exchange activities while experiencing the city’s culture, heritage, and community life.
