KUCHING: The founder and chairman of TAK Group of Companies and IMASA Dinasti Sdn Bhd, Teo Ah Khing, met with Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (MPC) to reaffirm the Group’s commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and cross-border collaboration in Brunei Darussalam on Friday.
The delegation led by Teo was warmly received by MPC’s chief operating officer Fazilah Yassin.
According to a statement issued by IMASA Dinasti Sdn Bhd today, the engagement included a two-hour high-level discussion.
“During the session, Teo shared key updates on TAK Group’s flagship project, the Kenyalang Smart City, which is currently led by its subsidiary in Miri, Sarawak.
“Facilitated with support from the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB), the meeting focused on the project’s strategic alignment with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, a bold blueprint that aims to transform Sarawak into a thriving, innovation-driven economy,” it said.
“The Kenyalang Smart City embodies the spirit of PCDS 2030 – driving sustainable growth, energy transition, and digital transformation,” he said.
Teo further emphasised the growing interdependence between Brunei and Miri, especially within the oil and gas sector, and the role of MPC in facilitating trade and logistics.
“MPC will become increasingly important in managing regional port activities as Miri and Brunei deepen economic integration,” he said.
Following the discussion, the delegation was brought on a guided tour of MPC’s port facilities to gain deeper insights into its operational capabilities and potential synergies for future collaboration.
For the record, MPC is a joint venture between Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd and Beibu Gulf Holding (Hong Kong) Co Ltd.
Officially established on February 15, 2017, MPC assumed full operation and management of the Muara Port on July 18, 2018, after taking over the Muara Conventional Terminal.
