KUCHING: The Technological Association Malaysia (TAM) Sarawak Branch has proposed closer collaboration with the Sarawak government to accelerate technology talent development and strengthen the state’s innovation-driven economy.
The proposal was outlined during a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here on Thursday (Apr 9).
The delegation was led by its chairman and Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) director Datuk Cassidy Morris.
TAM said in a statement the discussions focused on potential collaboration with state talent agencies, including Sarawak Skills and Talent Development (STACK), to produce more technology professionals and strengthen Sarawak’s technical capabilities in support of its innovation-led economic agenda.
“The initiative could also expand engagement between industry players, academic institutions and professional bodies to share expertise and enhance capacity-building across the technology sector,” it said.
It added that stronger coordination among stakeholders would help position Sarawak’s technology ecosystem to remain competitive at the regional and global levels.
In line with Abang Johari’s role as adviser to the state branch, the association said it looked forward to expanding cooperation with government agencies, industry and educational institutions through technology programmes, professional competitions and knowledge-sharing initiatives benefiting the state’s growing technology community.
