KUCHING: After a rocky split in March, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has confirmed that Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei will reunite as a mixed doubles pair this May.

In a statement released on Wednesday, BAM said the decision came at the request of both players and followed thorough discussions with the coaching team.

“This decision follows a request from the two players and extensive discussions between them and the coaching staff.

“The duo, who previously achieved a career-high world ranking of No. 3, will now refocus their efforts on the international circuit,” the statement read.

Their first tournament back together will be the Singapore Open, scheduled from 27 May to 1 June 1, where they aim to rediscover the chemistry that once made them one of Malaysia’s most promising mixed doubles pairs.

Tang Jie and Ee Wei had previously parted ways after a heated exchange during the German Open on 5 March.

BAM made the split official on 14 March, citing the need for a reset following mounting tensions between the pair.
