KUCHING: Tanjung Manis Halal Hub in Sarawak has attracted an investment of RM18 million, which involves one foreign company and two local companies, including a state-owned subsidiary.

Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, Liew Chin Tong said that Tanjung Manis Halal Hub was one of the HALMAS-certified Halal Industrial Parks since 2010, with a total land area of 4,040.38 hectares designated for related investment activities.

“Out of this, 197.16 hectares, or 4.9 per cent, have been developed for basic infrastructure facilities, agricultural activities such as pineapple cultivation, and aquaculture activities such as shrimp farming,” he was quoted as saying in Bernama report during a Q&A session in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Liew was responding to a question from Yusuf Abd Wahab (GPS-Tanjong Manis), who inquired about the ministry’s plans to assist the Sarawak government in promoting the Tanjung Manis Halal Hub internationally.

Additionally, he highlighted that 841.18 hectares, or 15.3 per cent, of the total area of Halal Malaysia (HALMAS) Industrial Parks nationwide had attracted a cumulative investment of RM16.75 billion from 2012 to 2024.
