KUCHING: The highly anticipated Tasik Biru Festival 2025 is set to take place from May 15 to 25, in conjunction with the 205th anniversary of Bau District and the official launch of the Tasik Biru Resort City.
Transport (Riverine and Marine) Deputy Minister, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, announced that the grand opening ceremony will be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the main stage of Tasik Biru Resort City on May 15 at 10:00 am.
“The launch of Tasik Biru Resort City not only strengthens tourism and infrastructure growth but also improves accessibility, safety and connectivity, especially through improving the local economic activities for the benefit of all Sarawakians.
“As the Tasik Biru assemblyman, I am extremely proud of the commitment shown by all parties in making this large-scale event a reality,” he said during the event press conference at Baitulmakmur I building here today.

The festival, which is expected to attract thousands of local and international visitors, will span 11 days and feature approximately 20 major activities.
Henry added that among the highlights are the Jong Regatta, a signature event that celebrates Bau’s traditional legacy; the Bau Sports Carnival, which will feature football leagues, badminton tournaments and e-sports competitions; and a range of cultural showcases, including traditional cooking contests, talent shows, and the finals of the Miss and Mrs Tasik Biru pageants.
On May 24, the festival will host the Unity Parade, symbolising the harmony and multicultural coexistence that the Bau community has upheld for the past 205 years.
Additionally, visitors can look forward to the Pedestrian Bridge Lighting Ceremony and a spectacular fireworks show at Tasik Biru, alongside many other programmes that have been designed throughout this celebration.
Running daily from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm, the Gawai Bazaar Bau will offer a vibrant marketplace filled with local products, traditional crafts and Sarawakian delicacies.
Meanwhile, nightly cultural performances and busking at the main stage will provide entertainment and a vibrant atmosphere for all ages.
Adding even more excitement, Henry revealed that a special lucky draw will be held during the festival, offering impressive prizes, including a brand-new motorcycle for lucky winners.
“I urge all Sarawakians, especially the people of Bau, to come together to support and enliven the Tasik Biru Festival 2025.
“Let us celebrate the uniqueness of our culture, the spirit of unity, and the progress of our district with pride and harmony,” he said.
