KUCHING: Sarawak’s young vocal talent Taylor Louise has added another milestone to her growing list of achievements, performing at the 10th Anniversary Asia Student Arts Festival (ASAF) Winner Showcase in London.
The 11-year-old took the stage at the Britten Theatre, Royal College of Music, delivering standout performances of Adele’s “Easy On Me” and “Quiet” from Matilda the Musical.
Her performance earned her the Winner Showcase Award, presented by acclaimed baritone Jerome Knox.
She was the only Sarawakian Malaysian recognised at the festival’s milestone celebration, which gathered top young talents from across Asia.
A statement said the audience responded warmly to her performance, impressed by both her vocal maturity and stage presence.
“Easy On Me” showcased her emotional depth, while “Quiet” highlighted her flair for storytelling and her connection to its theme of finding inner peace despite criticism and doubt.
“This song is personal to me. It’s about staying true to yourself no matter what others say, and I think that’s something every young person should hear,” she said.
Taylor qualified for the London showcase after winning the Malaysian preliminary round earlier this year.
Her past achievements include a gold medal at the World Championship of Performing Arts in Los Angeles and a Special Mention at the Sanremo Junior World Finals in Italy.
Next, she will appear as Rayna in “Dreamweaver: The Musical”, running from Aug 29 to 30 at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), marking her debut in a professional musical theatre production.
For Taylor, each stage is a new chapter — and London is just one of many stages she is ready to conquer.
