KUCHING: Eleven-year-old Sarawakian singer Taylor Louise is making her home state proud as she represents Malaysia at the prestigious Asia Students Arts Festival (ASAF) 2025 Winner Showcase in London.

The promising young vocalist departed for the United Kingdom yesterday (July 28), where she will take the stage at the Royal College of Music’s Britten Theatre on August 1.

This year’s event marks ASAF’s 10th anniversary and gathers outstanding talents from the region for a one-night-only concert in one of the world’s most respected music institutions.

Audiences in London will see Taylor perform two standout pieces, a musical theatre number and her award-winning rendition of “Easy on Me,” the pop ballad that clinched her the champion title at ASAF Malaysia earlier this year.

Taylor, in a statement, said that the experience still feels surreal and expressed her gratitude to those who supported her.

“From singing on the streets Kuching and singing at local open mic nights to performing in London, it’s all thanks to God’s blessings and everyone who believed in me.

“I’m proud to represent Sarawak and Malaysia,” she said.

Taylor is the sole representative from Sarawak and the youngest Malaysian performer selected for this year’s showcase.

She is also the first Sarawakian to win the ASAF and to perform at the iconic Britten Theatre, a milestone moment for both the young artist and her home state.

Meanwhile, accompanying Taylor on this milestone trip are her parents and her vocal coach, Sabrina Tnay, under whose guidance she has flourished as a young vocalist.

While in London, Taylor will also attend master classes led by esteemed British baritone Jerome Knox, a graduate of the Royal College of Music and winner of the London Handel Singing Competition.

Knox’s extensive experience performing at renowned venues such as Royal Albert Hall will offer invaluable insight for the young Sarawakian talent.

Taylor’s journey can be followed on social media through her official accounts: Facebook (@TaylorLouise), TikTok (@taylornmama), and Instagram (@taylorlouisebb).
