KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the underprivileged through the Ramadan Welfare Programme and distribution of its Bantuan Sara Hidup Bulanan (Monthly Living Assistance) to recipients today (March 25).
Its general manager, Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie, said the assistance is provided once a year to help recipients prepare for Syawal and is exclusively for its existing Monthly Living Assistance beneficiaries.
During the programme, some recipients also received the Ramadan Love Package, which included essential food items along with financial assistance.
The aid was distributed at three locations, with one recipient at each location, and delivered directly to their homes.
The convoy began at 3:00pm from the Ummah Distribution Centre, Jalan Demak, before heading to its designated locations starting at Taman Sepakat Jaya and continued to Kampung Goebilt, Bako, and Kampung Senari, Bako.
Baitulmal & Wakaf Board chairman, Datuk Abang Helmi Tan Sri Abang Ikhwan, together with Sarawak State Mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin officiated at the programme.
Earlier, Masjid Demak Baru deputy chairman Awang Ibrahim Awang Sabudin and Lembaga Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Negeri Sarawak (PERYATIM) chief executive officer (CEO) Mohammad Saleh Hamdin, received RM60,000 each in aid for their respective organization from Abang Helmi.
As of February 2025, TBS has distributed RM13.26 million to eligible asnaf under its four main programmes: Program Mengukuhkan Tradisi Keilmuan, Program Membangunkan Institusi Islam, Program Memantapkan Kebajikan Ummah, and Program Peningkatan Kemahiran Ummah.
