KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) has received a total of RM4.6 million from the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) and Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg was present to witness the zakat contribution of RM1 million from BDA general manager Datuk Muhamad Yakup Kari to TBS general manager Datuk Abang Mohamad Shibli Abang Mohamad Nailie at Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Friday.

Later, he also witnessed the business zakat contributions of RM3.6 million from Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd chief executive officer Ruslan Abdul Ghani to TBS.

Ruslan said this year’s business zakat contribution is the highest recorded, reflecting last year’s profits.

“Alhamdulillah, this is the highest zakat we have ever contributed, and it is part of our responsibility not only to pay taxes, but also to fulfil our zakat obligations.

“If our profits grow, we will be able to contribute even more,” he said.
