SIBU: Teachers play a vital role in shaping the minds of young learners, not only by imparting knowledge from textbooks but also by instilling a sense of inspiration and providing insights into the world around them.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Micheal Tiang Ming Tee encouraged teachers to go beyond the syllabus and impart knowledge about the state’s achievements and future prospects to their students.
He said that under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the state has made remarkable progress as shown by the significant increase in annual revenue.
Comparing the figures from 2022, he said Sarawak has nearly doubled its annual revenue, reaching a staggering 12 billion ringgit.
This notable accomplishment is a testament to the collective success of Sarawakian society, which thrives on a harmonious coexistence of diverse cultures and religions.
The stability, both politically and socially, has paved the way for the government to make informed decisions, implement effective policies, and utilise the state’s special rights and privileges under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) for the benefit of its people.
“All this actually makes our achievement possible so that our government can focus on coming out with the right policies and use our special rights and privileges under MA63,” he told reporters after officiating at the SJK (C) Kiang Hin Teacher’s Day celebration here yesterday (May 25).
The Pelawan assemblyman said it is important for teachers to embrace their role as conduits of information, including current affairs, and leverage local newspapers to keep students informed about the latest happenings in Sarawak.
Tiang said knowledge is important for students as they represent the next generation of leaders who will shape the destiny of the state.
Also present were SJK(C) Kiang Hin’s board of management chairman name Kapitan So Teck Kee and SJK(C) Kiang Hin principal Ling Ing Kiong, smong others.
