KUCHING: Technology and data-driven solutions are crucial to ensure Sarawak’s water supply system remains reliable and sustainable.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said effective water management requires accurate data covering pipe networks, catchment areas, accessibility and even soil type to allow faults to be detected and resolved quickly.
He added that adopting remote control and remote sensing would enable Sarawak to strengthen monitoring and improve efficiency in infrastructure management.
“With technology, if a pipe is broken, you just click and immediately know where the fault is.
“This makes it easier for repairs to be carried out because everything is stored in the data system, including where the pipe is located.
“Even the type of soil where pipes are placed must be incorporated in the data to ensure durability and accuracy,” he said when officiating the Prospectus Launch of Insights Analytics Berhad at Hikmah Exchange Convention Centre here today (Oct 7).
Abang Johari congratulated Insights Analytics for its good performance and its confidence in seeking a listing to expand its business.
He said every company aspired to become a key player in its field, and the move to be listed showed its readiness to participate in a larger market.
As such, he stressed that water would continue to play a central role in Sarawak’s transformation programme, with technology-driven solutions ensuring the state’s progress towards a high-income economy.
“I am sure there is a roadmap in the prospectus for what you are going to do, and what you will contribute to the expanded market.
“Your company is well versed in analytics, and with this kind of capability, Sarawak can continue its transformation towards a market-driven, technology-driven future,” he added.
Insights Analytics, a Sarawak-based technology company, built its foundations in water management where it first addressed water losses and supply challenges.
The company’s breakthrough came during the Covid-19 pandemic with the deployment of its Intelli Water System for Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB’s) command centre, integrating smart sensors, pumps and SCADA monitoring under one platform.
That achievement strengthened its credibility with public agencies and opened opportunities to expand into the private sector, diversifying its technology solutions beyond water to hospitality, transport and construction.
Among its platforms are IntelliHotel, IntelliTrack and IntelliConstruct, which have helped clients improve efficiency, safety and sustainability in their operations.
