MIRI: Police have arrested an 18-year-old local individual in connection with the alleged break-in of a business premises in Permyjaya, Lutong, where about RM100 in cash was reported stolen.
Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD Miri) said it received a police report on July 23 at 3.20 pm after the shop owner discovered signs of a break-in.
The complainant later reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, which allegedly showed a suspect forcing entry into the premises by damaging the door before fleeing with approximately RM100 in cash.
Following intelligence gathering and investigations, a police team led by Miri Police Station Chief, ASP Goldy Jangan, together with officers from the Crime Prevention Operations Unit of Miri Central Police Station, arrested the suspect in the Lutong area.
Police also seized several items believed to be linked to the case.
The suspect has been remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which covers housebreaking or breaking into a building with intent to commit an offence.
Police have urged members of the public to continue providing information on criminal activities, saying public cooperation remains vital in combating crime and safeguarding the safety and well-being of the community.
