KUCHING: A male teenager died from severe injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash along Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yaakub, Petra Jaya.
The accident happened at about 1:30 am on Sunday when the 15-year-old was riding from the Samariang roundabout towards the SESCO roundabout.
Kuching Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the teenager is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle before crashing on the left side of the road.
“He suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for immediate medical attention.
“However, he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at the hospital’s emergency unit,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous riding.
Alexson urged all motorists to prioritise safety and strictly observe traffic laws to reach their destination safely.
