KUCHING: A 16-year-old boy pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here today (Nov 5) to two counts of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
The incident came to light after the victim was reported missing by her father.
The teenager entered his plea after both charges were read before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Razali.
According to the charge sheet, the incidents occurred in a room at a residence in Siburan at about 1.30am and again at 10.40am on Oct 26.
Both charges are framed under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years’ imprisonment and caning, upon conviction.
As the accused is a juvenile, the court granted him bail of RM2,000 without deposit, with his parents serving as guarantors.
The court fixed Dec 17 for case mention pending a character report from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).
According to the case facts, the girl’s father lodged a missing persons report after she failed to return home.
The following morning, the accused brought her home in a Perodua Bezza.
Subsequent questioning led to a police investigation, and a medical examination was conducted on the victim at a hospital.
The case is prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Chuah Kai Sheng, while Lawyer Lim Lian Kee represents the accused.
