KUCHING: A 15-year-old boy was ordered by the Magistrate’s Court to be sent to a Henry Gurney School for a period of three years for raping a girl, resulting in her pregnancy.
Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali issued the order after considering the child offender’s moral report from the Social Welfare Department.
Earlier, the teenager, who had dropped out of school, pleaded guilty to one charge under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code.
He was charged with committing the abominable act against a 14-year-old girl at a recreational park on Jalan Padungan, between late April and early May 2025.
If convicted, the offence carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment and caning.
According to the case facts, the complainant, the biological father of the victim, reported on December 8, 2025, at around 11.00 am that his daughter was complaining of stomach pain.
The complainant then took his daughter to a private hospital for an examination, which revealed she was 14 weeks and four days pregnant. She was subsequently referred to a government hospital.
The victim admitted to having sexual relations with the accused, leading to a police report being filed.
The investigation revealed that the victim had engaged in sexual relations with the accused for the first time in late April at a recreational park on Jalan Padungan.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Muhammad Afiq Safly Nor Kazly, while the accused was unrepresented by counsel.
