MIRI: A teenage rider died on the spot after his motorcycle crashed into the road divider along Jalan Miri Bypass flyover today (Nov 19).

The accident happened at around 5.30 am when the 17-year-old boy was riding towards SMK Bandar Baru Miri from Taman Tunku.

Preliminary investigations found the victim’s motorcycle is believed to skidded out of control before it veered to the right and crashed into the road divider.

Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Mohd Farhan urged road users to stay vigilant on the road, practise safe driving habits and comply with traffic regulations to ensure the safety of others.
