KUCHING: A teenager was ordered to be sent to Henry Gurney School for three years by the Magistrates’ Court for raping a madrasah schoolgirl in August last year.
Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan made the order after hearing the moral report on the 17-year-old from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) today.
The teenager pleaded guilty to two charges under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for raping the 14-year-old girl.
The accused, who worked as a restaurant assistant, committed the offences in a rented room above a shop along Jalan Bako, in early and late August 2025.
According to the facts of the case, on Dec 25 last year, at about 4 pm at a house in a village in Petra Jaya, the victim – a Form Two student at a madrasah school – admitted to her parents that she had a boyfriend.
The victim told her parents that she had met the accused through the social media platform TikTok and that they had engaged in sexual intercourse twice in a rented room.
It was understood that the victim admitted to the relationship after her mother checked her smartphone and found messages and inappropriate content involving the victim and the accused.
After the confession, the victim’s father lodged a police report, which led to the arrest of the accused on Dec 25.
During the arrest, an initial urine screening found the accused tested positive for ketamine.
The victim was also taken to hospital for examination, where a medical officer confirmed there was an old tear in the victim’s hymen.
Investigations revealed that both admitted to having sexual intercourse in a rented room above the accused’s shop in early and late August 2025, between 9 am and 4 pm.
It is also understood that the drug case involving the accused is still awaiting a moral report from JKM, and another date will be fixed for the case.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Muhammad Aidil Akmal Sharidan, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
The case was investigated by investigating officer, Inspector Nur Ain Wong Abdullah.
