KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau (SPCB) has been receiving complaints from the public on slow Internet speed in their residential areas.

They requested assistance from SPCB on numerous occasions to highlight the matter with relevant authorities to rectify the problem by improving the telecommunication infrastructure.

SPCB is therefore disappointed with the opposition on the construction of telecommunication towers to increase Internet speed and connectivity and the childish suggestion by Pending State Assemblywomen Violet Yong to build telecommunication towers near the homes of Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.

Such opposition by DAP leaders clearly shows that they are not in sync with the urgent need to catch up with the new age of the Internet revolution.

SPCB hopes that DAP leaders would be more progressive in their thinking for the good of all Sarawakians and come up with positive suggestions on the best sites to construct telecommunication towers that will benefit the public because digital growth in Sarawak is already slow compared with other states in Peninsular Malaysia.

On an unrelated matter, SPCB chief, Wilfred Yap was asked for legal advice and assistance by the Lundu Chung Hua Association to prepare legal documents to enable the association to secure a parcel of land for use as a Chinese cemetery.

The existing cemetery used by the Chinese Community in Lundu will be inadequate in the near future.
