MIRI: The police have arrested ten local men after they tested positive for methamphetamine during a late-night raid on an entertainment outlet here.
The operation, led by Insp. Stiffan Lawler Ateng, and a team from the district police headquarters’ Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, took place at around 12:15 am on Friday along Jalan By Pass.
Officers screened 19 patrons -14 men and five women – before escorting them to the police station for urine tests.
Initial results showed ten men had consumed the banned substance.
All suspects are being held at Miri Central Police Station and will face charges under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police reminded the public, especially young people, to steer clear of drugs, which remain Malaysia’s “number one enemy”.
