KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced two men to 10 months in prison for retaining a stolen four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle belonging to a 33-year-old woman.
Royce Akong, 45, and Chung Chint Choy, 47, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to the charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code.
The offense was committed in front of a well-known fast-food restaurant in Matang Jaya at around 12.30am on Nov 9, 2023.
Based on the case facts, a police team had tailed a suspicious black 4WD vehicle bearing the registration number SS 3000 Y.
During inspections, two men were found inside the vehicle along with several sharp weapons in the back seat.
Further checks on the chassis number revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
