KUCHING: Tesla Malaysia today completed its first official vehicle delivery in East Malaysia, marking a significant milestone in the city.

The historic handover signals the company’s strategic expansion beyond Peninsular Malaysia, reflecting growing regional demand and rising consumer confidence in electric mobility solutions.

Tesla said that the milestone demonstrates its commitment to inclusive nationwide growth and sustainable transportation.

“Our mission is to build a world of amazing abundance by making electric vehicles desirable, practical and accessible for everyday use,” it said in a press statement.

It added that both Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y have earned top global safety ratings from authorities in the United States, Europe, Australia and China.

According to Tesla, expanding into East Malaysia enables more communities to benefit from lower ownership costs, reduced maintenance requirements and a seamless, technology-driven driving experience.

“With our direct service model and integrated technology, owners can access mobile service convenience, remote diagnostics and 24/7 roadside assistance through the Tesla App,” it said.

To accelerate electric vehicle adoption, Tesla vehicles in Malaysia are now priced from RM147,600 or approximately RM1,138 per month, broadening accessibility.

The Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, described as Tesla’s most affordable option, delivers core features including industry-leading safety systems, intuitive technology and a minimalistic interior.

Supporting the milestone, Tesla Malaysia continues investing in nationwide charging infrastructure to support confident long-distance travel and reliable daily commuting.

As of early 2026, Tesla operates 18 Supercharging stations with 76 Superchargers and 17 Destination Charging stations housing 79 chargers nationwide.

The company noted that strengthening connectivity between key cities lays a solid foundation for future expansion in East Malaysia as demand continues rising.

Customers can experience Tesla vehicles through test drives and consultations at Vivacity Megamall here until Feb 22.

Additional Experience Centres are located in Cyberjaya, Kuala Lumpur and Penang, complemented by service facilities in Kuching, Cyberjaya, Penang and Johor.
