MOSCOW, Russia: Tesla’s board of directors on Thursday expressed confidence in Elon Musk as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after media speculated they were looking for a replacement, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported.
“The CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk, and the Board is highly confident in his ability to continue executing on the exciting growth plan ahead,” Tesla board chair, Robyn Denholm, was quoted as saying on Tesla’s X account.
Earlier in the day, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported, citing sources, that the board of directors of Tesla had begun a search for a successor to Musk as CEO amid falling stock prices and investor dissatisfaction with his focus on the White House.
In response, Musk called the WSJ’s article “deliberately false”, as well as an “extremely bad breach of ethics”.
He also called the paper a “discredit of journalism”.
Since January, Musk has served as the head of the consultative Department of Government Efficiency in the administration of United States President, Donald J. Trump. – BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI
