SIBU: Kuttika Kaewpin believes the Sarawak International Volleyball Invitation (SIVI) 2026 has offered valuable lessons despite her extensive experience on the international stage.
Representing Indonesia’s J Team, the Thailand international said competing alongside players from different countries has given her fresh perspectives both on and off the court.
“This is not my first time in Malaysia. I have been here before, but this is my second time playing here in Malaysia in a national team context,” she told Sarawak Tribune at the Sibu Volleyball Indoor Stadium on Sunday (July 5).
Although familiar with Malaysian volleyball, Kuttika said playing in Sarawak presented a different experience.
“It feels like an experience that is not entirely new, but more about learning and understanding teammates,” she said.
The two-time Thailand Volleyball League Best Outside Hitter (2024/2025 and 2025/2026) added that SIVI has provided quality competition while allowing players from across the region to exchange experiences and adapt to different playing styles.
Competing alongside athletes from Malaysia and other countries has made the tournament even more meaningful, she said, as it offered opportunities to better understand new teammates and different approaches to the game.
Kuttika also praised the standard of the competition, saying tournaments such as SIVI play an important role in helping players develop while strengthening volleyball ties across the region.
SIVI 2026 features five women’s teams from Malaysia and abroad, providing valuable match exposure for international players while also serving as a key platform for Sarawak’s SUKMA 2026-bound athletes to test themselves against quality opposition.
