LIMBANG: A thanksgiving prayer ceremony was held at Masjid Jannatul Firdaus on Friday evening in conjunction with the official birthday of His Majesty the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, drawing dignitaries and members of the local community.
Adding to the significance of the occasion was the presence of the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, who arrived at 6:20 pm.
The gathering began with the ‘azan’, the Islamic call to prayer, followed by the Maghrib prayer, the obligatory evening prayer performed just after sunset.
These were conducted in congregation, setting a solemn and spiritual tone for the evening, and were followed by the recitation of ‘Surah Yaasin’ and a thanksgiving prayer led by Sarawak’s Grand Imam, Sahibul Fadhilah Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.
The ceremony was further enriched by a ‘Marhaban Zikir’, a form of devotional chanting or recitation of praises and blessings upon Prophet Muhammad SAW, led by the Limbang Divisional Zikir Group.
The Governor and his wife were scheduled to participate in the Official Tea Party in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s Birthday Celebration at the Limbang Civic Hall on Saturday.
