KUCHING: The Carlsberg Golf Classic (CGC) #NEXTGEN Finals brought golf lovers to the edge of their seats in a thrilling face-off.
The event’s climax unfolded on the lush greens of the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort’s 27-hole championship course. Participants, through their skillful play on the well-kept lawns, turned the competition into a showcase of top-level golf.
Since its kickoff in May, the CGC #NEXTGEN has seen 3,600 players give their all at 32 golf clubs throughout Malaysia, with three rounds even happening in golf simulators. They were all hoping to secure their place in the National Finals.
In the finals, Nor Azmi Akob emerged as the champion. Against 64 skilled opponents, he scored 67 and walked away with a Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar sports watch, a set of Stealth KBS Max 85 JV (22) ST 5-9P,S golf clubs, and a Talormade 9’ FlexTech Waterproof Stand Golf Bag.
Celebrations continued as Gwee Li Jun, the Gross Winner with a score of 73, won similar golfing treasures. For the second year, 29-year-old Gwee’s win has deepened his affection for golf and boosted his confidence.
“The CGC #NEXTGEN’s expanding reach is a boon for golf in Malaysia, paving the way for new talent. I’m keen to keep bettering my game and am already excited for the next challenge. This victory has only intensified my love for golf,” said Gwee.
