KUCHING: The Borneo Derby returns, and Kuching City FC are ready to battle Sabah FC for bragging rights.
Head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak, however, expects a tough encounter against a determined Sabah FC side at Stadium Negeri when they meet on Saturday (March 7).
Aidil said the team has been working hard in training as they gear up for the clash against their East Malaysian rivals in the Malaysia Super League.
“The preparation has been good. Tomorrow is a derby game and it’s going to be tough as we know Sabah is always a good side,” he told Sarawak Tribune when contacted today.
The Cats head into the match in confident mood following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Imigresen FC on March 1.
Currently sitting fourth in the league standings with 34 points, Kuching City remain firmly in contention for AFC competition spots, trailing second-placed Selangor FC by just two points.
Over in Sabah, the Rhinos are hoping to revive their campaign after a rocky season.
Sabah currently sit 10th in the standings with 15 points and recently appointed Spaniard, Juan Torres Garrido, as their new head coach.
The Borneo Derby is expected to draw strong support from local fans, as both teams battle for crucial points in the closing stages of the league campaign.
