KUCHING: With a demanding run of away fixtures looming, Kuching City FC head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak lauded his squad’s professionalism following a disciplined performance that delivered three vital points on Friday night.
Aidil credited his players for executing the game plan under challenging conditions, noting that away matches in the second round of the season are never straightforward.
“Alhamdulillah, full credit goes to the players. Coming here was not easy, and the second round is always tougher,” he said during the post-match press conference.
The Cats secured another clean sheet, further underlining their defensive consistency this season.
“I appreciate the boys’ effort tonight. We didn’t concede a goal, and we are still among the best defensive teams in the league,” Aidil added.

While Kuching City were unable to play their usual brand of football due to the pitch conditions, Aidil felt his side adapted well and remained disciplined throughout the match.
“With the pitch conditions, it wasn’t easy to play our normal football, but overall, the players worked hard and followed the plan,” he said.
Aidil also acknowledged improvements to the playing style compared to their previous match, while describing the second half as a tense affair with both teams pushing for goals.
“We could see improvements compared to the first game we played. The second half was tense, with both sides trying their best to score,” he explained.
Ultimately, securing maximum points was the priority.
“To come here (Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu, Kelantan) and get three points was our main objective, and massive credit again to the players,” Aidil said.
The Kuching City head coach admitted that the team face a demanding schedule, beginning with a league clash against Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) before turning their attention to the Malaysia Cup away tie against Penang FC.
“We know we will play Penang in the Malaysia Cup and that will be another tough game. Before that, we face JDT, which will demand a lot of energy.
“Three away matches in a row – Kelantan, JDT and Penang – means travel and recovery will be crucial, but I believe in my players. They are professionals and they will always give their best. Our responsibility is to take care of them,” he added.
A first-half goal from Muhammad Danial Amier Norhisham proved enough as Kuching City edged Kelantan TRW 1-0 in a hard-fought away encounter.
