WASHINGTON: Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI, has unveiled its Grok 3 chatbot yesterday, calling it the “smartest AI on Earth” in an increasingly competitive market.
Musk announced the release on X, saying the AI — trained on synthetic data — can refine its reasoning by reviewing errors for logical consistency.
He and his team were “honing the product” over the weekend.
xAI aimed to challenge OpenAI’s ChatGPT and China’s DeepSeek, which recently surpassed ChatGPT in Apple App Store downloads.
Despite warning that AI poses risks to civilisation, Musk is aggressively investing in the sector.
xAI raised $6 billion in December from investors including Nvidia, AMD, and Gulf state funds, making it one of the world’s most valuable AI startups — though still trailing OpenAI. – AFP
