Thousands flock to Premier’s open house on second day of Hari Raya

KUCHING: The jovial and inviting ambiance continued to imbue the second day of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House hosted by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today (Apr 1).

As early as 9am, people from all walks of life gathered at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), eager to take part in the celebration, which officially started at 10am.

Their presence was warmly greeted by Abang Johari and his wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, who took the opportunity to engage with the guests.

A total of 11,203 visitors graced the event on its second day, with some expressing their enthusiasm about being part of the occasion.

Kua Geok Ho, 57, attending for the first time with his wife, conveyed his delight at being able to partake in such a grand Hari Raya celebration.

“I am exceedingly delighted to be present here today,” he said this to the reporters.

Kujau Ingkai, 33, shared his elation in bringing his wife and their two children to the open house.

“This marks our inaugural attendance at the Premier’s open house, and we are eagerly anticipating the experience here,” he said.

He also mentioned that they were informed about the event through Facebook announcements and had arrived as early as 9.30 am.

Piri Nyerang, 80, accompanied by her children and grandchild, revealed that they faithfully attend the Premier’s open house every year.

“I relish attending this event as it allows me to soak in the festive ambiance and engage with numerous individuals,” she expressed.

She also expressed gratitude for receiving duit raya and expressed intentions to attend again next year.

Meanwhile, Kungan Banda, 57, attended on the second day after missing the first.

“I escorted my grandchild on a motorcycle. We both reveled in witnessing the festivities here,” he stated.
