KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands of Sarawakian students, youth, and professionals congregated at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) for Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak (LBAS) 2025 here Saturday.
The signature annual gathering is aimed at fostering unity, sharing knowledge, and connecting Sarawakians in Peninsular Malaysia with the leadership and progress of their home state.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, who launched the event, called on Sarawakians residing in Peninsular Malaysia to seize the opportunity to visit the Lan Berambeh Expo throughout the day to gain insights into the Sarawak government’s latest development plans and policies.
“I urge all Sarawakians in the peninsula to come to MITEC today and make full use of this opportunity to obtain the latest information and knowledge about our state’s policies and planning, all aimed at ensuring Sarawak continues to prosper alongside its people,” said Fadillah, who is also the patron of Sarawak Volunteers, to reporters.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang, said the expo features 89 agencies and organisations grouped into several thematic clusters, including renewable energy, career opportunities and education.
The main exhibition is led by the Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in collaboration with key ministries and state agencies.
“We have also included career and education booths to help connect Sarawakians with new opportunities and pathways,” said Rubiah.
Fadillah added that the day’s programme would also feature seminars, motivational talks, and interactive discussions chaired by the Deputy Minister of Health, Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni.
He added that the Kenyalang Speakers segment would feature the Deputy Prime Minister himself, alongside the debut of a new interactive platform called “Croc Tank”, where university students will present their innovative proposals to a panel of judges.
“This session allows our students to showcase their creativity and ideas, while receiving feedback from experienced mentors,” said Lukanisman.
Event chairman Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi expressed gratitude to all parties involved, particularly parliamentary colleagues and Fadillah as mentor to the organising committee.
“This marks our 16th edition of Lan Berambeh Anak Sarawak, and each year the event becomes more vibrant and impactful,” he said.
“We thank all Sarawak Volunteers for their dedication, and we hope the entire programme, from this morning’s opening to tonight’s dinner, will run smoothly and successfully,” he said.
